Part-time Kitchen Aide
The City of Garfield Heights is accepting applications for a part-time senior center kitchen aide position.  Normal work hours are Monday – Thursday 7:30 AM until 1:30 PM.  General requirements include daily meal preparation of the senior meal programs, supply ordering and upkeep of the kitchen area.  Background check is required.  Applications are available at the G.H. Certified Electrical Inspector Position
The City of Garfield Heights is seeking a full time Certified Electrical Inspector. The qualified candidate must hold a current Electrical Safety Inspector certification issued by the Board of Building Standards. Certification as a Building Inspector is required within 18 months of hire.

The candidate must have a thorough knowledge of building construction and the ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications. A general knowledge of zoning and building maintenance codes is required. The qualified candidate must have the ability to operate computers and general office equipment, work with Microsoft Office Suite, Building Department databases and navigate the Internet. Accuracy and consistency are required, along with good communicative skills. The applicant must have a valid Ohio drivers’ license and insurable driving record.

The job duties include but are not limited to, enforcement of the Building Codes of the State of Ohio, the Codified Ordinances of the City of Garfield Heights and certain other laws and regulations as needed; taking complaints from the public, explaining codes, laws and regulations to the public, writing clear and concise reports and communicating well with co-workers and the public. From time to time there will be other duties required in support of other departments and City projects.

The rate of pay is $25.60 per hour; the City provides a comprehensive benefit package.

Part-time, Seasonal School Guards

Garfield Heights is looking to hire part-time, seasonal school guards.  Hours are from 7:00 – 9:00 am & 2:00 – 3:00 pm Monday thru Friday.  Pay rate is $9.85 an hour. 

Applications can be picked up and dropped off at the Records Department at the Garfield Heights Police Department between the hours of 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday.

Accepting Lateral Transfers

The Garfield Heights Fire Department will be accepting lateral transfers of Ohio Certified Firefighter Level 2 / Ohio Certified Paramedics. You must have current State of Ohio certifications and at least one year of experience as a Firefighter/ Paramedic. Starting salary level and benefits will start at Third Class.
