Sewer Calls

Preventative maintenance is no longer done by the county. If you are experiencing a backup or sewer-related issue, please call the Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 3:30 pm, at 216-443-8201.

Catch basin problems will still be handled by the Garfield Heights Service Department. We need the following information:

  • House address
  • Your name
  • Phone number

There is no charge to the resident for this service.

Potholes

Please call the Service Department office to report potholes in the city streets. Have the address and location of the pothole available.

Tree Removal

Dead trees located on a resident’s tree lawn will be removed by the City. Limbs will be trimmed off trees on tree lawns only. If a tree is interfering with a power line, call the Illuminating Company at 800-589-3101.

Leaf Pick-Up

The City of Garfield Heights leaf pick-up generally begins on November 1st. Leaves must be placed in long rows on your tree lawn, not in tall piles. Do not put leaves in the street.

Piles cannot have sticks, twigs, rocks, grass clippings, trash, animal waste, or other material that can clog the leaf machine. If debris is found in a pile, workers will not collect the rest of the pile and you will be asked to bag your leaves going forward.

Pick-up will start in Ward 1 and Ward 7, working towards the middle of the city. Pick-up will continue ward by ward, street by street.

Leaves can always be bagged or put in a large trash tote and put out with your regular garbage on regular collection days; bags cannot weigh more than 40 pounds.

Street Light Outages

Please call the Service Department if a street light is out. When you report it, please provide the address and street name.
